Training & background:

Thamindu Wedatilake completed his Sports and Exercise Medicine specialist training at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is a fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine.  He currently holds the NHS Sport and Exercise Medicine post at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.  

Clinical Interests:

Dr Thamindu Wedatilake is a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine at Wimbledon Clinics, specialising in muscle-related sport injuries, tendinopathy, stress fractures and groin pain.

Additionally, Thamindu Wedatilake has expertise in managing football-related injuries and is a Medical Officer at Southampton Football Club. He is also a part of the medical panel of the England and Wales Cricket Board, and works with the England women’s programs.

In the past, Thamindu Wedatilake has worked at the English Institute of Sport and has experience working with Great Britain sport teams including swimming, modern pentathlon, athletics, rhythmic gymnastics, synchronised swimming and hockey. He was a team leader for medical provision in the London 2012 Olympic Games at the basketball venue.

Thamindu Wedatilake conducts novel research into groin and back pain in sport through the University of Oxford.
